  • 2005 Diversity Theme Contest
    The Goddard Diversity Action Team (GDAT) is now accepting submissions for its annual Diversity Theme Contest. The winning theme will be used in all promotional meterial for Diversity Awareness and Celebrate Goddard activities that will occur next year.

  • An Interview with the Deputy Director as New Champion for Diversity
    With even stronger credentials that demonstrate his capability to lead, Chris Scolese returns to Goddard serving as the Deputy Center Director after holding the position of Deputy Associate Administrator in the Office of Space Science at NASA Headquarters (HQ).

    As Deputy Director at Goddard, Scolese also serves as the Champion for Diversity.

  • November is Native American Month
    "Bridging Tradition with Technology" is the theme for this year's national observance of Native American history throughout the month of November.

    Goddard will mark the month with observances and activities.
  • Employment Disability Month Brings Awareness
    Environmental pollutants, high demands in the workplace and hectic lifestyles. Is it a wonder that there is an increase in psychiatric disabilities?

    Meeting the Rising Tide of Psychiatric Disability was the topic discussed by Dr. Daniel Conti. The Equal Opportunities People with Disabilities Advisory Committee (PWDAC) sponsored this special presentation on Oct. 14 in recognition of Disability Employment Awareness Month.

  • Hispanic Heritage Month
    September 15 was recognized as Indepedence Day and began a month of recognition and celebration for five Latin American countries known in the United States as Hispanic Heritage Month. This year's theme, "Hispanic Americans: Making a Difference in Our Communities and Our Nation."

  • Goddard Celebrates Diversity!
    This years Celebrate Goddard Activities were held from July 27 to 29th and included two days of outdoor activities as an effort to be more inclusive and extend the opportunity for contractors, GEWA clubs and advisory committees to convey how their diverse accomplishments contribute to the success of Goddard.

    The Diversity Council and the Goddard Diversity Action Team invites all Goddard employees to Celebrate Goddard!

  • Gay and Lesbian Pride Month
    Gay and Lesbian Pride Month is a time to celebrate the progress made in creating a society more inclusive and accepting of gays and lesbians, and stems from the 1969 Stonewall rebellion in New York. Attendees at Stonewall Inn, a propular gay bar, resisted harassing occurrences, sparking a three-day protest against the mistreatment inflicted upon the gay community. This 1969 protest marked the catalyst for the modern political movement for gay and lesbian liberation and civil rights.

  • The Diversity Dialogue Project: The View from a Recent Participant
    The Diversity Dialogue Project (DDP) began as a pilot in 1999 with the first phase beginning in February 2001. The project was initiated by the Diversity Council as a continuing effort to build an organizational climate in which employees respect, appreciate and value individual differences.
